DIRECTIONS

 AND OVERVIEW

Little Sahara State Park is located in NW Oklahoma, 4 miles south of Waynoka on Hwy. 281.

Little Sahara offers the perfect "oasis" for off-road vehicle enthusiasts with 1,450 acres of  sand dunes to ride ranging in height from 25 to 75 feet.

The dunes were created over 11,000 years ago from terrace deposits and well-sorted quartz left by the Cimarron River when it flowed across this area during the Pleistocene Age.  This makes for extremely fine quartz sand.  Each year nearly 100,000 off-road vehicle enthusiasts visit the park.

For those who want to stay and play, picnic and camping facilities are available, and seasonal concession stands provide refreshment.  The Park offers 3 picnic shelters seating up to 80 people, 139 non-assigned campsites in two campgrounds with comfort stations and showers, 42 semi-modern sites (electrical and water) with a dump station for RVs, and 97 unimproved sites in the two campgrounds for tents.
